TECHNICAL ROUNDTABLE MEETING AT UOCRA

MORE ACTIONS TO IMPROVE WORKING CONDITIONS

  • TECHNICAL ROUNDTABLE MEETING AT UOCRA

A new technical roundtable meeting was held. It was composed of UOCRA Department of Health and Safety at Work, CAMARCO, SRT, The Directorate General for Work Protection of the Government of the City of Buenos Aires and Manufacturers of safety footwear.

Within the framework of the participation of different work committees of IRAM, UOCRA, through the Department of Health and Safety at Work (HSW), convened a technical roundtable meeting which was composed of CAMARCO, SRT, GCBA and Manufacturers of safety footwear with a view to continuing working on a new IRAM standard N° 3703 for safety footwear specific to the current risks in the construction industry.
This new UOCRA initiative is based on daily surveys and talks with workers and delegates. We noted that the components of safety footwear partly met the requirements of working conditions of our industry.
As detailed above, there is thus a need to keep working from UOCRA on a new specific standard which improves the conditions of footwear used in construction. In parallel, we have gathered different supplier companies of materials and authorities of the sector of Traumatology from Sanatorio Franchín in order to exchange views on the use of materials, design, possible improvements and their impact on building workers’ health.
Given the own characteristics of Construction, we will keep working from UOCRA Social Network in order to have a specific standard which defines the parameters of a safety footwear for the construction industry and which improves its current condition and fundamentally, which may reduce accidents at work and occupational deceases of building workers.
