  • GERARDO MARTÍNEZ: ‘A NEW SOCIAL PACT ON THE REDISTRIBUTION PROCESS IS NEEDED TO SOLVE THE PROBLEMS WE HAVE’

WITHIN THE FRAMEWORK OF THE INTERNATIONAL LABOUR DAY, UOCRA'S GENERAL SECRETARY, GERARDO MARTÍNEZ, PARTICIPATED IN THE FORUM "WORK: PRESENT AND FUTURE WITH SOLIDARITY", ORGANIZED BY THE ARGENTINE ECONOMIC AND SOCIAL COUNCIL. THE MEETING WAS CLOSED BY THE PRESIDENT OF THE NATION, ALBERTO FERNÁNDEZ.

At the beginning of the panel, Gerardo Martínez underlined the importance of the meeting, highlighting the relevant role of the Economic and Social Council in the design of "a plan that addresses the present day, but thinking in the long term".  In this regard, Martínez affirmed: "The Economic and Social Council gives us the opportunity for concerted action".

As a kick-off of the debates, Gerardo Martínez reflected on the challenges posed by the current socio-economic reality, and assured: "If there is no new social pact on the redistribution process, it is very difficult for us to solve the problems we have". 
UOCRA's General Secretary participated in the Forum "Work: Present and Future with Solidarity", as moderator of the panel "Productivity and Decent Employment", together with Paula Bibini, from the Industrial Union of Salta. 

The panel was composed by Carlos Leyba (Subsecretary of Programming and Coordination during Perón's third administration), Marina Dal Poggetto (Executive Director of EcoGo), Mara Ruiz Malec (Minister of Labour of the Province of Buenos Aires), Martin Rapetti (Economist and Researcher of CONICET) and Paula Abal Medina (Researcher).	

The Forum, organized by the Economic and Social Council, was broadcast on Saturday and was characterized for having a wide and plural call, bringing together representatives of the economic, social, trade union, productive, governmental and academic spheres.

Throughout the day, the guests shared their opinions on various topics related to work, such as: green jobs, education and professional training, future of work, care, industry 4.0, decent employment, digital economy, innovative state, among others. 

The activity was closed by the President of the Nation, Alberto Fernández, who was accompanied by the Minister of Labour of the Nation, Claudio Moroni, and the President of the Economic and Social Council, Gustavo Beliz.
