Gerardo Martinez, Eulogia Familia, Miriam Luz Triana and Marie Clarke Walker, Members of the ILO’s Governing Body together with Victor Baez, TUCA General Secretary and Laerte Texeira TUCA Secretary of Social Policies met leaders of the Americas with the special guests ACTRAV (Bureau for Workers' Activities) Maria Helena Andre, a Raquel Gonzalez, Steve Benedict and Alex Praga from ITUC and Hilda Sanchez from ACTRAV Geneva.

The meeting was also attended by colleagues of other world confederations and secretariats, with a pluralist and open participation.

Gerardo Martínez spoke about the latest topics covered by the Governing Body and gave an overview of the situation regarding the right to strike - Convention 87 and the position of the employers, supplemented by the reports of Eulogia family, Miriam Luz Triana and Marie Clarke.

Maria Helena André and Raquel Gonzalez addressed those who were present and then Victor Baez commented on the importance of the speeches delivered by our leaders in the Conference firmly establishing the position of the Americas.

Different viewpoints were exposed, with reference to the issues dealt with in this Conference and placing emphasis on unifying criteria to strengthen our tasks.

A document written by the TUCA with the analysis of the Report of the ILO Director General was given and Gerardo Martínez submitted a document with the main points to require the ILO from our region.
