  • UN OBRERO DE LA CONSTRUCCIÓN FUE DESTACADO POR CONCEJALES TRAS SALVA

Today, the councillors from Viedma awarded the distinction “;Outstanding Neighbour of this City” to a young man named Gabriel Maureira, who saved a baby girl’s life by performing her the first CPR (cardiopulmonary resuscitation) manoeuvres in May.
The incident took place in Lavalle neighbourhood Street N 22 when the mother and father of the baby, who was only few months of age, ran desperately when they saw that their daughter had fainted and did not react. That was when Gabriel, who was sharing his free time with a group of friends at a corner of the neighbourhood in Viedma that evening on May 19, intervened.

Gabriel belongs to a family who have always been related to the tough world of the building construction, which is frequently misunderstood and most of the time it is little recognized. From very early age, he learnt the basic notions of the trade and then he got training both through day-to-day work and through every training course or workshop offered by UOCRA, Viedma Sectional and at the Trade Union of Construction Workers (MOC) of Viedma.
As a young worker from UOCRA Trade Union, he was also trained in CPR (cardiopulmonary resuscitation). This piece of information is important as this training had also been offered by UOCRA with the aim of providing workers with tools to face this type of situations.
That day, Gabriel Maureira undertook an act of solidarity and aid, which allowed him to save the baby’s life.
