Ministry of Public Works and Building Industry propel employment improvement in April.

During that month registered work grew 2.4% compared to March, incorporating 7,915 workers. During the last year 68,000 positions were created, that allowed a very important recovery in salaries.

During April formal employment grew 2.4% compared to March. This represents 7,915 real job positions all around the country.

Throughout the year, there was a raise of 25.8% so 68,033 new posts were accumulated in the last twelve months, according to a joint report released by the Institute for Construction Industry Statistics and Registration [Spanish acronym IERIC]

According to the IERIC report, the average increase in the salary for the first four months was 39.3 % compared to 2005 same period. This shows real salary improvement which climbed over inflation rates.

“The highest salary raises took place in companies employing 300 to 499 workers and in companies employing to 9, there was a slight reduction in the salary breach between small and large companies´ workers.” , the reporter highlights.

According to the IERIC, there was a raise of 17.3% in the request for Unemployment Fund Contribution Books compared to March 2005. This means the sector has positive perspectives, since businessmen expect to increase the number of staff in the forthcoming months.

Other important news in the report is the activation of Public Work. The Approved Budget of The Public Work National Administration Budget rose to $11,029 million by May 31st 2006. This represents a 62% raise compared to 2005 same month.
During the first five months of the year, 36.3% of the approved budget, has been executed, twice the amount of last year’s execution during the same period.
