TRADE UNION CONFEDERATION OF THE AMERICAS (TUCA) AND CMTA ARE CALLING AGAINST VIOLENCE TO WOMEN AT WORKPLACE

WITHIN THE FRAMEWORK OF INTERNATIONAL DAY FOR THE ELIMINATION OF VIOLENCE AGAINST WOMEN, 25 NOVEMBER, ITUC AND THE WORKING WOMEN’S COMMITTEE OF THE AMERICAS (CMTA) EXPRESS THEIR DEEP CONCERN AND THEY ARE CALLING FOR ACTION.

  • TRADE UNION CONFEDERATION OF THE AMERICAS (TUCA) AND CMTA ARE CALLING AGAINST VIOLENCE TO WOMEN AT WORKPLACE

The main objective is reporting and eliminating the continuous manifestations of violence that face women workers in the Americas

In an attempt to mitigate this situation, the trade union movement has brought before the International Labour Organization ILO’s Governing Body, the need for a specific ILO standard that allows fighting against violence in the workplace. Thus, ITUC and CMTA are calling on Governments to support development and implementation of such standard aimed, inter alia, at preventing gender-based violence at work and support the victims, guaranteeing them labor and social security rights.
