WITHIN THE FRAMEWORK OF THE ACTIONS OF THE PROGRAMME, WE HAVE STARTED THE SURVEY TASKS OF THE WORK FOR THE CONSTRUCTION OF THE GENELBA THERMOELECTRIC PLANT EXPANSION IN THE CITY OF MARCOS PAZ, PROVINCE OF BUENOS AIRES.

Within the framework of the activities of the National Programme on Management and Working Conditions, UOCRA through the Department of Health and Safety at Work (HSW) and UOCRA’s delegate team, carries out the monitoring of the work.
The work of expansion consists of the installation of a new gas turbine and steam turbine, as well as different works on the current gas turbine that will complete the combined cycle so that it can reach a total power level of 552 MW. This work will demand an investment of USD 350 million with a construction and start-up period of a combined cycle of 30 months.
With this expansion, an installed power of 1,226 MW will be reached. Currently, the combined cycle reaches 674 MW and the gas turbine reaches 169 MW where the expansion task will be carried out.
Currently, the tasks that are being performed consist of: ground movement, pile digging, mechanic excavation, welding of armature, formwork and strained of basis and slabs of reinforced concrete, assembly of metal columns and lightweight roofs for storehouses and channelling of protection sleeves for energised wiring.
The tasks are being carried out by an estimate number of 150 workers (with a total estimation of 600) who are divided into 3 different shifts.
Also, we have put up posters and protection and prevention measures signs at the different activities held in several front works.
